The local telephone company (SBC) recently upgraded IUN's main telephone lines.   The upgrade includes 4 phases:

1)Install new digital circuits.
2) Enable new outbound calling and caller ID
3) Enable new inbound calling and Caller ID
4) Disconnect retired analog circuit

Every new technology offers benefits and adjustments.  If you experience a telephone problem, please call or email IUN's help desk (981-4357 or iunhelp@iun.edu).

Also, please note the following from SBC regarding Caller ID:  "With Caller ID some call information may be blocked, unavailable, or come from an area not equipped to provide Caller ID data."

Currently IUN subscribes to caller ID service with number display only, soon the caller ID feature will include the name of the caller. Also with these changes, when you call out to a person with caller ID, instead of seeing one of the main campus numbers come up, your direct number will show on their display.
