Welcome to Indiana University Northwest. This newsletter is a publication of The Office of Information Technology at IUN.

TechBuzz is distributed monthly to all faculty and staff mailboxes. In addition, it is available for you to pick up in all Student Technology Centers, That Little Café, the Library Circulation Desk and at the Bookstore.

TechBuzz is a publication about current technology, both directly related to Indiana University Northwest and the community around us.

In addition to the print publication, we have a website, techbuzz.iun.edu. Our website has the latest breaking IU technology news, along with national technology news from MSNBC.

On the website, you can sign up for our mailing list, to receive updates on the latest news, we have bulletin boards, and our feature column, “Ask Mr. Knowitall”

Mr. Knowitall has the answers to most of your technology related questions. This is not limited to questions about computers, but questions of all technology matters, including cell phones, stereos, etc.

Miss a story in a print issue, don’t worry, all stories are archived on our website, you can also go back month to month to see the changes of the website.

Our website also has a download area. This area is where you will find links to software we feature and talk about in our stories.

Indiana University also offers to you the ability to download key productivity software at no charge. Visit iuware.iu.edu to download applications such as Microsoft Office (multiple versions), Symantec Anti-Virus, Ad-Aware, etc. There is also an area for Macintosh users.

Please note that to access many online features on techbuzz.iun.edu and the entire IU site, you must have a username and password. This should be created immediately, as you will need it to complete Fall 2004 registration, access email, OnCourse, and your Bursar account.

Setting up your technology accounts is very simple. Visit, http://itaccounts.iu.edu. At this time, you select your category, answer a few questions and in the span of a couple of minutes, you are all set up.

If you ever lose your password, you will need to visit the Help Desk in Raintree Hall with a photo ID to reset your password. UITS also offers a Knowledge Base of thousands of questions and answers to virtually every computer question for both PC and Mac

users, there is even some Linux information in there, to access the IU Knowledge Base, visit http://kb.iu.edu

We welcome all comments regarding our print and online editions, please email comments to techbuzz@iun.edu. If you would be interested in writing a story that you can add to your portfolio, please send a writing sample, in Microsoft Word format to techbuzz@iun.edu, with the subject “STUDENT SUBMISSION”
